Here, have a Grifo! My complaining picks up afterwards.

Kinja'd!!!

Easily one of the best looking cars made

Last year I worked around 300 hours more than I got paid for (the wonders of salary) and in the second half of the year spent just over a third of my life on-site in (shithole location), the first-half it was around a quarter. Meanwhile the company posted excellent revenue and profit. Today, second-half 2017 bonuses were posted.

So, what did I net? Just under a week’s pay.

I used to work 12 hour shifts with no overtime. I can’t really complain though, paid for the M3 in a year.

Similar shit here. I’m looking to get out. Had an interview Monday. It went well. Hopefully I get an offer. It might end up being similar crap anywhere in my line of work, but a better location and a bump in pay would help smooth it over.

And yet we’re supposed to buy that employees are “team members” and all of that rah rah bullshit.

We had a freeze in performance raises because of budget cuts last year. Probably this year too. I got a raise from the dean last year for getting tenure, so there’s that. Sometimes moving is the only way to negotiate what you’re worth. The problem comes if you don’t want to move.

If only it were that easy. Between the overbearing non-compete with where I work and the otherwise lack of jobs in my field in the area, it’s slim pickings.

I’m not a lawyer, but non-competes can be pretty hard to enforce, and often aren’t enforced anyways (in part because companies don’t want employees who don’t want to be there). YMMV though.

I have heard that - particularly the broad vague ones are nearly impossible to enforce since in theory you can’t tell someone they are not allowed to work in their field anywhere, ever, other than X. That said, I have also heard of my company threatening legal action against employees who were considering leaving to go to a similar company.

If you really want to leave, I would do a little more digging, and read through your agreement carefully. Maybe even talk to a lawyer.

They can’t restrict your ability to work, and there has to be a valid reason why they need a non-compete. They can’t just do it for reasons.

And a lot of companies threaten legal action without really meaning it- - so you never know.

I can feel your pain.

I am salary with a yearly bonus which is linked to 4 aspects

- Company (corporate)performance (exceptionally good)

- Local unit performance (slightly fucked because of harvey, still achieved the target)

- Individual performance (above expectation)

- Safety (best year ever)

I worked approximately, 10-11 hr each day (instead of 8) ~ extra 140 hrs last year

I worked all Saturdays in the the 4th quarter ~ 100 hrs

I let go off approx 80 hrs of vacation.

And I worked from home (still do).

In terms of weekly pay (as you mentioned)- our bonus structure is set to deliver anywhere from 2 to 20 weeks of pay. My pay-grade target is 16.

My (local) unit (800 employees) got 6 this year, target is 8, normally they get 9-10

I got 13, target was 16 I have averaged 18-19.

Still sad.
